Dr. Khaled M. AbuZeid
Biography:
Prof. AbuZeid carries a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from Cairo University, and M.SC & Ph.D. in Civil Engineering & Water Resources Management from Colorado State University.
He's a registered Professional Engineer in California, and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
He has over 25 years of experience including being Regional Water Director at CEDARE, Regional Coordinator for Water M&E in North Africa, Officer in Charge of North African Ministers Council on Water Technical Secretariat, Founding & elected member of the Arab Water Council Governing Board, Founding & elected Secretary General of the Egyptian Water Partnership, Chairman of the Global Water Partnership-East Africa (GWP-EA), Member of the Arab League's Council of Water Ministers Advisory Committee, Arab Water Strategy Advisory Team, Mediterranean Water Strategy Experts' Group, and the Arab Shared Waters Convention Consultative Group.
He was the Team leader of the Nile Basin Decision Support System Conceptual Design, 1st & 2nd Arab State of the Water Reports, Algeria, Libya, and Tunisia 2012 State of the Water Reports, North Africa 2012 State of the Water Report, and Nile River Basins 2012 State of the Water Reports, the Nubian and North Western Sahara Aquifers 2012 State of the Water Reports, Alexandria 2030 IUWM Strategic Plan, & the 2030 Strategic Vision for Wastewater Reuse in Egypt.
He developed Water Resources Strategic Policy Options for Egypt in 2050, and participated in the Regional Strategy for the Utilization of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer.
His other experience includes non-renewable groundwater sustainability, water indicators, Green & Blue Water assessment, water-related environmental & climate change impacts, and technical & legal aspects of transboundary water management.
