Biography:
Laila A. El-Guebaly is a Research Professor at the Fusion Technology Institute of the University of Wisconsin, Madison - USA. She received her BS from the University of Alexandria, Egypt, Nuclear Engineering in 1970; MS, University of Wisconsin, Madison, Nuclear Engineering in 1973; BS, University of Alexandria, Egypt, Physic in 1976; PhD, University of Alexandria, Egypt, Nuclear Engineering in 1979.
She is the Nuclear Group Leader at the University of Wisconsin Fusion Technology Institute, Nuclear Task Leader for the national US ARIES project, US Contact Person for the International Energy Agency Task on Fusion Radioactive Waste Studies, and US representative for the US-Korea collaborative program on managing fusion radioactive materials. The Primary interest is in the area of fusion neutronics, activation, radiation shielding, management of activated materials, and economics with extensive experience in fusion experimental and power plant designs. She is a member of the American Nuclear Society (ANS), US Fusion Power Associates, Editorial Advising Board of the ANS Fusion Science and Technology journal, Egyptian Society of Professional Engineers, and Editor of biannual newsletter of ANS Fusion Energy Division. She authored more than 100 technical reports and 120 scientific publications in US and international refereed journals, and contributed seven chapters to published books and Nuclear Energy Encyclopedia.
