Biography:
Dr. Mohamed Helal received his PhD from the University of Mississippi, USA, in 2010 on Molecular modeling for drug design with dissertation Title: Melanin concentrating hormone receptor-1 antagonists: discovery, optimization, and biological evaluation.
Dr. Helal is Associate Professor, department of Medicinal Chemistry, Suez Canal University starting August 2016 - to date. His research interests includes Organic synthesis, Protein-based modeling, Ligand-based modeling, Analytical techniques using several analytical tools and instruments.
Dr. Helal was trainer and organizer of ?Laboratory Safety: An active learning approach? workshop In October 2015, in addition to ?Chemistry and Biology Laboratory Safety? workshops Sponsored by the US National Academy of Science and Suez Canal University 2014.
Dr. Helal is the principal investigator of two STDF Research Grants #4244 ?Design and synthesis of Dual acting antidiabetic agents? and #4711 ?Design and synthesis of PDE4 inhibitors for the treatment of COPD and certain cancers.? In addition a Grant from the National Academy of Sciences to teach "Responsible Science and Scientific Integrity" in Suez Canal University (December 2014).
Dr. Helal is member of national and international organizations such as Egyptian Pharmacists Syndicate since August 2000; American Chemical Society (ACS) since July 2009; American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), 2009-2011; and French Society of Medicinal Chemistry (SCT), January 2015 ? January 2016.
