Biography:

Dr. Marwa El-Wakil is currently the Head of the Academic Research Sector at the BA. Through her work she oversees and supervises several academic centers and programs addressing different disciplines. She is the Former Director of the Center for Special Studies and Programs (CSSP), a scientific and cultural center at the BA. During her work at the BA, she led and coordinated many collaborative projects and programs, such as the BA partnership with the UNRCO to support sustainable development in Egypt; the Arab Regional Partner for the World Academy of Sciences for the Advancement of Science in Developing Countries (TWAS-AREP); the South to South Collaboration for Genomics Innovation project (University of Toronto); Education for Sustainable Development beyond the Campus (EU TEMPUS project); the Post-doctoral Research Grants program in partnership with the Egyptian Academy of Scientific Research and Technology; and several others. She authored, co-authored, and edited a number of publications and has had several contributions at international and national events. Before joining the BA, Dr. El-Wakil was a researcher at the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Research Institute, City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications, Egypt.
