Biography:
Prof. Magued Osman is currently the CEO and Managing Director of the
Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research (Baseera), and a Professor at
the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. He is also the
Chair of Telecom Egypt, a member of the National Council for Women, the
Vice Chairperson of the Arab Union for Statisticians, and a Board Member of
Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper.
Prof. Osman acted as the Chair of the IDSC, Egyptian Cabinet of Ministers
from January 2005 to February 2011 when he was appointed as Minister
of Communications and Information Technology in the post revolution
caretaker government. Prof. Osman provided short-term consultancy to
several international organizations, including UN-ESCWA, UN Women, UNDP,
UN Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF, and World Bank. He participated in
the formulation of the Women Empowerment and Gender Equality Strategy,
the National Strategy for Population, and led the establishment of the Egypt
Women Observatory.
