Noha Adly

Biography:

Dr. Noha Adly is Director of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department since 2001 and the International School of Information Science (ISIS) research center since 2005, both of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA), Egypt. She is also an Associate Professor in the Computer Science department, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University. She obtained her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cambridge University, UK in 1995. She was a Research Associate at AT&T Cambridge Research Laboratory (1995-1997) and a Visiting Researcher (1997-2000).

Dr. Adly is responsible for the BA's overall ICT strategy, architecting the BA's data policies and systems, prioritizing projects implementation, and managing the Library's network infrastructure. Dr. Adly initiates cooperation between ISIS and other international organizations and institutes to promote research and implement pioneering ideas relevant to creating a universal digital library.

Dr. Adly has been chosen in 2008 as a member of the IAP Program Steering Committee. She is also a member of the Information Resource Center (IRC), the Sub-Committee of Technology for the UNESCO Memory of the world project (SCoT), the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) and the IEEE, as well as several other scientific, social and humanitarian organizations, and she represents the Bibliotheca Alexandrina at the Digital Library Federation (DLF). Her research interests are distributed systems, database and operating systems, data management in mobile computing, modeling and simulation, and digital libraries. She delivers a large number of local and international presentations and invited talks annually. Dr. Adly is also author/co-author of more than 40 publications in peer reviewed journals and scientific conferences in the field of computer science and engineering, and is recipient of several international awards.
