Biography:
Olfa Khelifi is Assistant Professor of the Higher Institute of Applied Biological Sciences of Tunis. She received her PhD degree from the Ecosystem Engineering Department at the University of Tokushima, Japan. Her main teaching and research activities are devoted to Environmental Engineering. Her research shows special interest in applying and implementing compact treatment solutions such as membrane bioreactors in developing countries where water and wastewater challenges are demanding. Besides these activities, she is involved in many academic and socioeconomic responsibilities. She has been involved in the organization of many national and international meetings such as the Tunisian-Japanese workshops. She was project coordinator for a project funded by Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC, 2005). She has acted as the lead scientist at ICS-UNIDO to implement several projects funded by the European Commission and other donors in the field of water and soil remediation technologies (2004, 2005).
