Biography:
Prof. Ahmed Rafea served as a Professor of CS and Vice Dean at Cairo University. He also served as a Visiting Professor in San Diego State University and National University in the United States.
Dr. Rafea is the founder of the Central Laboratory for Agricultural Expert Systems that was established in 1991. He was the principal investigator and manager of several projects for developing expert systems in Agriculture funded by UNDP, USAID, and ICARDA.
Dr Rafea was the Project Manager of the Virtual Extension and Research and Communication Network (VERCON) and the Lead Nation Consultant of the Rural and Agriculture Development Communication Network (RADCON).
Dr. Rafea was also the principal investigator of a Machine Translation project in collaboration with University of Southern California (USC). He is currently a member in the Center of Excellence on Data Mining and Computer Modeling, sponsored by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.
Dr Rafea authored over 150 scientific papers in International and National Journals and Conference Proceedings.
His research interests include Natural Language Processing, Machine Translation, Knowledge Engineering, Information Retrieval, Knowledge Discovery, and Data Mining.
