Ronald Numbers

Biography:

Dr Numbers interests include the history of science, medicine, and religion in America. Currently, he is writing a one-volume history of science in America since European settlement and co-editing (with David Lindberg) an eight-volume Cambridge History of Science. Additional works in progress include co-edited volumes on Science and the Christian Tradition (with David Lindberg), and on Modern Science in National and International Context (with David Livingstone).

Dr Numbers serves on the editorial boards of Religion and American Culture, Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Geschichte und Theorie der Biologie/Annals of the History and Philosophy of Biology, and the recently created Outreach and Education in Evolution. He continues to edit a series of books on "Medicine, Science, and Religion in Historical Context" for the Johns Hopkins University Press. In 2005, he was elected to a four-year term as president of the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science/Division of History of Science and Technology.
