Prof. Adly, received the PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, USA; and has been Prof. of Electrical Engineering at Cairo University since 2004. He worked in the industry and academia in the USA, 1992–2000; and as a UNESCO and European Commission Expert in 2003 and 2006, respectively. During 2006–2019 Prof. Adly served as the R&D Director of the Egyptian Industrial Modernization Centre, Cairo University, Faculty of Engineering Vice-Dean, the Executive Director of Egypt’s Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF), Cairo University, Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Research, and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
He authored two books, published more than 135 reviewed papers, holds one US patent and received numerous prizes and awards including the Egyptian State First Class Medal of Science and Arts, and the Shoman Foundation Arab Scientist Prize.
Since July 2022, Prof. Adly started his role as President of Egypt–Japan University of Science and Technology.
