Prof. Oula Amrouni

Biography:

Dr. Amrouni INSTM is a recognized expert in coastal studies and the shoreline erosion in North African coasts under the rapid climate changes. She is a scientific member/leader of national and international projects involved in the shores retreat, coastal ecosystems studies, and related social and environmental implication such as the aquifer salinization, wetland quality, etc. She’s the leader of Nature Base Solution initiatives of sandy beaches restoration under the rapid sea level rise.

Since 2016, Dr. Amrouni is the Regional Co-coordinator of the MEDFRIEND-WATER IHP UNESCO program and Theme leader of the ‘Coastal Ecohydrology’ and was nominated as the new Coordinator since 2024. Dr. Amrouni is the focal point of the Coastal Observatory OMELI UNESCO-Ecohydrology DEMOSITE since December 2022.
