Prof. Amira M. Senbel

Biography:

Prof. Senbel worked formerly as Vice-Dean for Educational Affairs & as Vice-Dean for Training and Community Services

Before joining AASTMT, Prof. Senbel had a 22-years academic and administrative career at Alexandria University being Former Deputy Director of Quality Assurance Center at Alexandria University, as well as Director of Quality Assurance Unit, Faculty of Pharmacy, Alexandria University, Egypt. She has a long experience in Accreditation and Strategic Planning in Higher Education.

Prof. Senbel earned her Ph.D. in 2005, and full-professorship in 2017. She worked as a research fellow at Imperial College London, Sorbonne Paris cite University, and Sapienza University Rome. She has over 45 publications in her specialized field of interest (Cardiovascular and smooth muscle Pharmacology and Toxicology).

She is a laureate of the prestigious L’Oréal-UNESCO Fellowship prize “For Women in SciencePan Arab in 2013, as well as several national and international recognitions. She serves as a Member of Experts panel for L’Oreal Unesco Young Talents Sub-Saharan Africa Fellowship, 2020- present)  and for the prestigious For Women in Science Award (Life and environmental Sciences 2024). She also served in 2024 as an expert for the regional consultation of Draft UNESCO Recommendation on Ethics of Artificial Intelligence and Neurotechnology.

Being interested by the health benefits of environmental protection, Dr. Senbel serves at the regional level as the AASTMT focal Point and Member of the Arab Team for Follow-up of Agreements Concerning Chemicals and Hazardous Waste - Economic Sector - General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (LAS), and participated in the conception and presentation of the AASTMT’s projects at Expo Doha 2023 "Green Desert, Better Environment" as part of the LAS pavilion that was awarded the “Best Educational Pavilion”. She also co-organized the activities of the Arab Day for Disaster Risk Reduction LAS, 2024, and served as moderator for the youth empowerment session during the World Cities Day.

Prof. Senbel is a member of various internationally recognized societies in clinical pharmacology and toxicology, as well as a reviewer for several international peer-reviewed journals in pharmacology, and as Editor in Chief for Medical Pharmaceutical and Dental Research journal of the Arab Academy.
