This is a joint event between the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) and the WHO Collaborating Centre in Pittsburgh, supported by the World Diabetes Foundation. This workshop is part of a bigger project at the BA - The Diabetes Supercourse for the MENA Region.
The training course will be held from 5-13 January 2009 at the BA and will discuss the different non-communicable diseases we face today as well as the various research tools and prevention strategies necessary to stand up against this alarming epidemic.
The workshop will be addressing general topics like basic biostatistics and epidemiology principles, and more specific ones like health inequities, obesity, complications of diabetes, smoking, and many more.
Participants will have a morning didactic course then will have the opportunity to work in smaller groups with their trainers.
This workshop aims to assist young scientists, researchers and health care professionals with the tools that will in turn, aid them in their various fields to find innovative new strategies for the prevention and control of many non-communicable diseases.
