In preparation of the Summit of Heads of States and Governments 2007 under the theme "Science, Technology and Research for Africa's Development" the Congress of African Scientists and Policy Makers took place in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina bringing together 108 of Africa's leading scientists, executives and decision-makers from the industry field, research institutions, government and academia from 35 different African countries to discuss fundamental topics in science and technology for socio-economic development of the continent.
The congress also provided the opportunity for African scientists to share their experience with countries that have successfully used science & technology for their economics such as Brazil, China and Finland.
