The TWAS-Arab Regional Office (ARO) held its second annual meeting among its members aiming to discuss several issues regarding the achievements of the TWAS-ARO since its inauguration in June 2005.
The main aim of TWAS-ARO is to promote scientific capacity and excellence for sustainable development in the region.
TWAS Arab members include 48 distinguished scientists residing in 12 different Arab countries and abroad.
The points of discussion of the meeting included:
1) Establishing a system for identifying eminent scientists in the region and nominate them for TWAS membership and prizes.
2) Identifying the types of organizations that should be considered as partners for TWAS-ARO.
3) Suggestions on how to enhance the visibility of TWAS among young and promising scientists, policy-makers and the media.
