Egypt -Lebanon -EU Mobility Exchange NeTwork (ELEMENT): Scholarships Opportunities

Egypt was granted a new project through the Erasmus Mundus, Action 2 - Strand 1 programme titled "Egypt � Lebanon � EU Mobility Exchange NeTwork", abbreviated as "ELEMENT".
The ELEMENT Project offers scholarships for undergraduate, master, doctoral and post-doctoral students and staff. These scholarships will cover travel, insurance, participation costs and subsistence allowance.
Students and staff members from all universities in the ELEMENT partnership, both from the EU (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Spain and United Kingdom), Egypt and Lebanon can apply for scholarships. The ELEMENT Scholarships are designed for:
1.Students and staff members and graduates from Egypt or Lebanon wanting to study at an EU University.
2.Students and staff members from EU Partner Universities wanting to study at an Egyptian or Lebanese Partner University.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships for Students at Master Level

The application deadline may come to an end by 31 December 2011 for some of the courses (most of them will have a scholarship application deadline falling around mid or end January 2012)
The European Union's
Erasmus Mundus
(EM)programme aims at enhancing the quality in higher education through individual scholarships and academic co-operation between universities from Europe and the rest of the world.
For 2012 and 2013, an increased support will be provided through the Erasmus Mundus and TEMPUS programmes for students, professors and universities from the South Mediterranean countries.

The up-coming academic year (2012) dedicated additional funding has been provided under Erasmus Mundus Action 1 in order to award full study scholarships for master students from Tunisia and Egypt.
These scholarships are intended to cover the student's full participation costs in one of the 131 existing Erasmus Mundus Master courses
(EMMCs), covering a very broad range of disciplines and representing some of the best higher education programmes Europe can offer today

Students interested in participating in one of these master courses are invited to apply for their scholarship directly to Universities implementing these programmes.
The specific application criteria together with detailed information regarding the selection process as well as the scholarship amount can be found on the dedicated website of each individual master course (the master course website addresses are available under the above referred link).
The calls for scholarship applications to the various EMMCs are already open and students are encouraged to APPLY NOW since the application deadline may come to an end by 31 December 2012 for some of the courses (most of them will have a scholarship application deadline falling around mid or end January 2012)

2012 Millennium Youth Camp in Finland:

Technology Academy Finland and the Finnish Science Education Centre LUMA are going to organize the 2012 Millennium Youth Camp to be held in Finland.
The week-long 2012 Millennium Youth Camp will take place in the Helsinki Metropolitan Region, Finland, and start on 9 June 2012.
During this camp, about 30 talented and young people from different parts of the world will meet for a week to work together on different projects on mathematics, science and technology. These young people will also get a chance to meet famous scientists as well as the 2012 Millennium Technology Prize Winner during this event.

The Leuphana University of Lueneburg will grant 10 Ph.D. Scholarships
(1300 EURO monthly, up to 3 years) paid out of the EU-funded Innovation-Incubator and starting May 31, 2012 or, preferably, at an earlier date.
The scholarships will be awarded in the following research fields with reference to the Lueneburg area (convergence region):

AAS, icipe, and TWAS-ROSSA Conference

GERSS - GERMAN EGYPTIAN RESEARCH SHORT TERM SCHOLARSHIPS

Autumn call for application 1 September till 15 October 2011
The German Egyptian Research Short term Scholarship GERSS is a program jointly funded by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) and the German Academic Exchange Service, Bonn (DAAD) in order to finance short term scholarships for young Egyptian scientists to travel to Germany. The target groups of the program are researchers enrolled in MSc, PhD programs and young Post Doctoral candidates. The scholarships may be awarded for a period from three to six months.
There are two calls for applications annually, namely the spring call (15.03.-30.04.) and the autumn call (01.9.-15.10.)

2012 EOL Rubenstein Fellows Call for Proposals

The Encyclopedia of Life (EOL) is now accepting applications for its 2012 EOL Rubenstein Fellows competition.
This international program seeks to support and extend the impact of original biodiversity research by postgraduates, graduate students, and other scientists, and to tap into the knowledge and expertise of late career and retired scientists. EOL Rubenstein Fellows funds provide partial support for up to one year so that biodiversity research, databases, and media can be effectively translated into rich, online resources available through the Encyclopedia of Life. Fellows are encouraged to engage in collaborative and synthetic work with a community of colleagues. EOL Rubenstein Fellows also help EOL develop effective strategies for engaging and supporting the scientific community.

Summer School: the exchange of knowledge and the awareness on EU water research and technology state of the art

Time and date
The summer school will be held in Barcelona, Spain between the 26th and the 30th of September, 2011. Participants are expected to arrive the afternoon before, on the 25th of September.
Venue
Classes will be hosted by ACC1O in Barcelona and will be held under the address: Passeig de GRACIA, 129, 08008, Barcelona, Spain.
Who many attend
Young researchers (PhD, PostDoc), water experts from industry and SMEs, and water practitioners from relevant stakeholders primarily from EU countries, EU associated countries and EU neighbouring countries.
Examples for the main stakeholder entities from which participants are selected from:
- European Ministries of Environment, Research and Enterprises;
- National public agencies related to R&D (focused on water);
- Universities, Research Centres and other Institutions involved in Water R&D and Innovation;
- Water Industrial associations;
- European Platforms (in particular Water Platform);
- Large and Small Companies known to be involved in Water Research and innovation.
Selection criteria
A maximum number of 25 participants will be selected based on the following criteria:
1.Their familiarity with the topics pertaining to the STREAM Summer Schools
2.Their achievement in water related fields research;
3.They are representatives of entities considered as stakeholders;
4.Good knowledge of English.
Scholarship
STREAM is currently seeking for the partnership or sponsorship of outside actors to provide few scholarships. Additional information to applicants on existing scholarship programmes will also be provided.
