1. WHO The International Conference on Primary Health Care in Alma Ata in1978 states that the promotion and protection of the health of the people is essential to sustained economic and social development. The Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion was adopted during the First International Conference on Health Promotion in 1986. The Ottawa conference was followed by conferences in Adelaide and Sundvall. The Jakarta Declaration was adopted during the Fourth International Conference on Health Promotion in July 1997 Health Promotion approaches will again be debated on the Fifth Global Conference for Health Promotion in June 2000 in Mexico. 2. IUPHE The International Union of Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) holds world conferences every three years. |
