The world's deadliest tornado occurred on April 26, 1989, in Bangladesh near Dhaka when approximately 1,300 people were killed and more than 12,000 were injured. Worldwide, tornadoes are probably under-reported because many developing countries lack adverse weather reporting systems. Consequently, the global impact of tornadoes on public health is not known.
