Physical activity
interventions are underway that may demonstrate a positive effect of
physical activity on cancer-related fatigue. Similarly, diet, weight or
physical activity interventions may enhance self-image among survivors
(86,87). Cancer treatment can also alter sexual function directly, make the
patient feel less attractive thereby diminishing sexual desire and suppress
gonadal function leading to ovarian failure and the development of
osteoporosis. Exercise and nutrition interventions may be effective in
ameliorating such potential adverse health consequences and warrant further
research.
