Limitations of using a 2 x 4 table to test for gene-environment interactions are described in this slide. It is likely that most gene-environment interactions are much more complicated than those that can be evaluated by examining additive or multiplicative models. Therefore, while 2 x 4 tables are easy to construct, their usefulness can be limited. |
