This slide shows the estimated incidence rates
for VT for the 4 groups of susceptible and exposed women.
Note - using the method to estimate absolute risk that was illustrated in
the previous lecture ‘Absolute, Relative and Attributable Risk’, the
incidence rates for VT are almost identical to those estimated by the
authors by distributing the person years according to the prevalence of the
risk factors. Therefore, this is another approach that can be used to
estimate absolute risk (incidence) from a case control study when the
overall population incidence rate is known. |
