Contradictory results were
obtained in the studies of Poynard T et al. and
Granot E et al. [54, 78]. . There was
a significant decrease of the fibrosis index score among the 17 sustained virologic
responders, in comparison with 92 nonresponders and 56 relapsers. However, the levels of
HA remained unchanged. . [54, 78]. Serum HA showed a modest association with hepatic
fibrosis, and remains a useful non-invasive marker. However, serum HA alone has limited
value in predicting histological changes over a treatment period [79].
