In 1971, over
half of excess PYLL was accounted for by deaths among persons under 35 years of age (the
lower 3 categories of the stacked bars). By 1996, mortality at younger ages had declined to such an extent that less than one-quarter of excess PYLL was accounted for by persons of that age. Go to Part II of this lecture.
