Let’s remind ourselves of the assumption behind our statistical adjustment. Mortality rates of patients attending the clinic must be the same as those unknown patients that are unknown to the clinic. Using the Jamaican Cohort Study of Sickle Cell Disease, we are in the unusual position of being able to examine this assumption.
