History of
hepatitis --- Hippocrates first described jaundice. Infectious nature
of viral hepatitis has been suggested in the 8th century. Outbreaks of
epidemic jaundice have been recorded in military and civilian population
during the war time in 17th ~ 19th century (i.e. hepatitis A).
Lurman reported outbreaks of hepatitis following vaccination to dockers in 1883 (i.e. blood-borne hepatitis). During WWII a series of outbreaks occurred after vaccination for measles and yellow fever. |
