In 2001, the
Catholic diocese of Kumbo had an AIDS prevention and couple counseling unit
which was rated as a model of family life promotion for all of Africa. In
2002, Gedeon and Laurel reported on Missionary work in Cameroon focusing on
HIV/AIDS, where 25 of the 65 seminarians at the Presbyterian seminary are in
a club to stand against AIDS. The Torchbearer Foundation for Missions,
Reconciliation and Development in Cameroon, one of the new generation
churches, in their 2002 conference at Bamenda came up with a declaration on
the prevention of HIV/AIDS among its members and the general community in
what is now known as the " Bamenda declaration of HIV/AIDS prevention". This
Christian body came up in their Yaounde conference on Christian community
development with a 15-item questionnaire for the 2003 plenary session:
