Apart from the
need to refine the specification of relative social inequality, further research is needed
to examine how psychosocial factors, related to social anomie and lack of cohesion, may be
the mediating conditions linking a society in chronic stress or transition with the
public’s health. Multilevel health profiles, which include cultural context with
psychosocial variables, are relevant for more accurately crafting prescriptive policy
proposals for government reformers, and to gauge the proper balance between individual and
collective responsibilities for public health.
