Rates of avoidable
hospitalization for adults with six conditions (angina pectoris, congestive heart failure,
hypertension, pneumonia, asthma/bronchitis, diabetes mellitus) were, on average, lower in
areas of one US state that had a higher ratio of family physicians to population, but
there was no significant relationship for hospitalizations for these conditions and the
general internist per population ratio. Source:
