An effective
Primary Health Care system (PHC) is necessary to address the challenges of
our aging population with increasing chronic disease, more complex
comorbidity, as well as functional disability in the population. There have
been efforts to improve the delivery of primary care in several countries.
For example, indicators measuring quality and performance are being
developed to ensure the implementation of effective PHC tools and methods.
The purpose of this study was to develop indicators, focusing specifically on the clinical care provided by Primary Care physicians that could be easily measured through administrative data. 1 Macinko J, Starfield B, Shi L.
