Physicians
play an integral role in the quality improvement process. By examining and
considering all aspects of their own practice they are able to provide
feedback that will guide quality improvement initiatives. Policy-makers should strongly consider the benefits of family physicians retaining their hospital privileges, as well as structuring programs for better, broader tracking such as electronic medical records. They must also create a culture of support, integral to any quality improvement initiative. Trainers and educators can use indicators to focus educational initiatives on areas that are in need of quality improvement and can provide ongoing training to practicing physicians. These opportunities can focus on areas that are in need of quality improvement. |
