On the initiative of the Charles University Hospital in Pilsen, the Association of Czech Hospitals adopted a project of joint follow-up of various economic and medical indices in 1996. The project was started in cooperation with the Institute of Healthcare Informatics and Statistics and the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. The basic idea was to create an information system for the needs of these three institutions. Within the Association there are 19 hospitals involved in the project.
