Men and women unite to create families. They have children and their relationships are founded on trust. Family relations are the closest relationships, which is why intrusion on family privacy, including by public institutions, is perceived in the majority of cases as disturbing and undesirable. On the other hand, such privacy has both positive (protection of a family from adverse external influence) and negative (domestic violence stays hidden from the public eye) aspects.

It can be said that domestic violence doesn’t occur once or twice—it’s a common practice. Moreover, 6,5% of married women surveyed are exposed to domestic violence committed by their husbands as frequent as once a month and more.

The majority of women surveyed (58%), who had been exposed to domestic violence, said their husbands had committed violence against them while intoxicated.
