Less optimistic respondents justify their opinion with two primary arguments. First, that society is degrading both culturally and morally, and second, that the situation of inequality between men and women cannot be changed.  

The reasons of violence committed against women can be differentiated as economic (insufficient income, unemployment), cultural (education, deep-rooted traditions) and social (low level of education, increase of criminal incidences). The subordinate status of women could be singled out separately. The transition period to a market economy significantly increased such problems as men’s self-realisation / self-expression. All above-mentioned problems are objective and cannot be solved quickly. Solution of these problems is closely related to improvements in all spheres of society. Only 13,5% of respondents mentioned inefficient work of law-enforcement agencies, which can be directly related to the problem of violence committed against women.
