New mammography facilities can be located in two ways. First, new facilities can be placed to reduce the longest distances traveled. This would mean placing the facilities in rural areas where few women travel very long distances to get a mammogram. Second, new facilities can be placed to reduce the average distance Vermont women travel. This would imply placing facilities in urban areas where lots of women have to travel longer than average distances.
