The consistency of CRP levels over time is quite good. In this analysis of CRP levels measured 5 years apart in postinfarction patients in the CARE trial, the correlation coefficient over those 5 years for the hs-CRP was comparable, if not superior, to that of most of the other lipid levels measured. These data have been corroborated elsewhere and again suggest that CRP testing may have clinical utility.
