Each statin
studied significantly reduced CRP levels. Median percent reduction in hs-CRP did not
differ significantly among statins; atorvastatin reduced hs-CRP by a median of 28.3%,
pravastatin by 20.3%, and simvastatin by 22.8%. With the respective statins, CRP was
reduced in 81.8%, 72.7%, and 81.8% of patients; CRP was reduced with all three statins in
54.6% of patients. Change in CRP level was not significantly correlated with change in
LDL-C or HDL-C but was correlated with triglyceride (r=0.59, p=0.005). Reference:
