Thus there is a better way of reporting the WHO studies results: The hazard ratio for survival was 0.72, with 95% CI 0.49-1.04. This was not statistically significant, p=0.07. Despite this, there is 96.5% confidence that a survival benefit exists, and 94% confidence that the benefit was greater than 3%. This indicates that based on this study, a benefit is likely, and that further studies should be undertaken. |
