This
lecture seeks to provide you with a basic understanding of the epidemiologic research
designs of demographic, mortality and morbidity studies. The commonality for these designs
resides in the use of data gathered from a variety of available sources, many of which are
now available on the Internet. From a Public Health standpoint, these studies, if done
consistently, provide valuable information in the control and spread of disease. Sources for this lecture include:
Beaglehole, R, Bonita, R. & Kjelistrom, T. (1993) Basic Epidemiology. (WHO)
Lilienfield & Stolley's Foundation of Epidemiology.
