Mahmoud M. Sakr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) since April 2014. Sakr had several National Positions such as ED of Science, Technology Development Fund (STDF) and founding director of NRC center of scientific excellence for advanced sciences. He received three scientific Excellence prizes, got his PhD in Plant Biotechnology in 1995 and professorship in 2006. Sakr has more than 120 publications, books, co-authored books in plant biotechnology and STI indicators, IPR and policies. Sakr with his team put and follow up the implementation of ASRT action plans (2014-2022), which revolves around technology transfer, commercialization, localization, knowledge and technological alliances, public private partnership (PPP) and science for society. ASRT action plan is the core of Egypt STI strategy 2030.
