In Pittsburgh, USA, investigators have been following a cohort of Type 1 diabetic subjects all diagnosed under the age of 17 at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. This registry has been shown to be epidemiologically comparable to the community based Allegheny County registry in the same area of Pennsylvania. Subjects are seen every two years.
